Career Review It is important to remember that effective career review is necessary and perhaps even more so in today's workplace where security is no longer guaranteed. It is important to identify your strengths as early as possible and to build on these. You can potentially control and drive this process in conjunction with your coach. The conversation can include examination of all the below in order to identify goals and devise an action plan.Career potential and aspirations: reflections on what your aspirations really are, including insight into how far you can go within your organisation and in what direction. Feedback on how you are doing. What your strengths and weaknesses are, and how people see your potential. (360 degree feedback.) Career drivers , work values and work-life balance help to clarify what is important and how to create space for your life outside work. Where you're at with your career; how you feel about work; helping you to be clear what your career issues really are. Talking about your current job and career situation can clarify matters and discharge any negative emotions, which can get in the way of positive thought and action. Options outside the business: looking at job and career options in the wider labour market, as well as career options inside the organisation. Process, politics and tactics: how to raise your profile and be more visible to key people; how to work within the system to facilitate moving roles if that's what you need to do. The pros and cons of choices: carefully identifying and exploring particular career options, being clearer about where you want to go, and the development and/or work experience required to get there. |
